Why Get Sharpe

I started Get Sharpe because I’m passionate about great marketing and wanted to connect and inspire a new generation of marketing talent.

Through meeting marketers up and down New Zealand, I realised there was a need to support them in the modern world of marketing by helping them lift their game plan, grow their skill-sets or leverage their investment in Marketing Automation platforms like Hubspot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Pardot, Marketo etc. 

I do this through coaching and mentoring – by being a sounding board and catalyst for new ideas and action.

Agile, Content, Permission or Inbound, all those terms can be confusing, but I help marketing teams by guiding and teaching them on how to use these new techniques and methodologies to achieve their objectives.

With Marketing automation, I realised too that marketing teams despite their investment in new technology either hadn’t implemented anything, were floundering with the solution they had bought, or needed basic guidance on ‘what now’ to take full advantage of it and see those impressive results all the marketing technology vendors quote.  

The basic fact is your marketing platform or strategy is only ever as good as the people who drive them and the “We’ll learn how to use it as we go” approach was, and still is, extremely common. Of course, that results in only a small percentage of the platform’s true capability being used or your content/inbound or agile methodology producing results.

Passion for Growth

I’m not a self-proclaimed guru.  Sure, I’ve built a few very successful marketing teams and nurtured some awesome marketing talent over the years, but I’ve also had my fair share of failures along the way. I’m human. I still make mistakes. It’s taken me years to identify the biggest mistakes I’ve made and determine where I’ve wasted time & money.   But I can help you short circuit some of those mistakes.

I’m passionate about great Marketing and take pride in being an avid student that loves growing my knowledge and experience, experimenting until I find the right answers so that I’m maximizing my possibility of success.

Real-Life Experience

I’m an innovative and creative modern marketer with well over 20 years in senior marketing management roles. I’ve been a storyteller, brand builder, channel manager, strategic leader, team builder and tactical planner.     

I have an interesting mix of senior management experience having led product management teams, product marketing teams, technical product teams, customer engagement teams, designers & developers and of course brand & marketing teams for some great Kiwi companies

So, I have the battle scars and through Get Sharpe I can help support and develop new marketing managers as they grow into their job.  I can guide and support them during the marketing planning process.  Or I can provide a professional, objective review of current marketing plans and help support the team when presenting new strategies to leadership

For business leaders I can help plan and choose new marketing talent during the recruitment process or train and guide young team members in best marketing practices.
